INSIGHTS - 2022

2022:

One thing to know about me is that I love the Bible, especially translations that dig into the original languages – Hebrew and Greek. Various translations into English are valuable because the way things are worded or phrased to capture the meaning in the original language can really make something come alive. One of my favorites right now, at least for the New Testament and Psalms, is The Passion Translation (TPT).

As I read the scriptures truth comes alive at times in simplicity and application to real life.  I will share some of these insights ~

On Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom…”

TPT: “So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”

Jesus declares this strong idea after encouraging us humans to cease worrying about the many things that comprise our life here on earth. Some Christian belief systems interpret the “not worrying” about things to mean “just ignore them.” However, the holy spirit touched me recently with this simple interpretation of Matthew 6:33:

~ Make sure you have a spiritual life. ~

That’s it.  The reason to prioritize your spiritual connection is because in God there is order. And connecting with that order in a consistent manner will inform and influence every other aspect of life when we go to address it.  It a valuable personal choice for each of us, and a deeply personal endeavor.

On Psalm 65:1-2 - Prayer

TPT: “You who answers prayer, all of humanity comes before you with their requests.”

The root word for prayer here in Hebrew is “palal” which also means “tent peg.” I love the visual!  A tent peg fastens and secures a tent in place. If we want God to cover us in life, then through prayer – just talking to God in honesty and humility – we can secure His presence over us as a covering, as a tent.

~ Intentional communication with God creates a dwelling place for Him and for me, together.

How wonderful is that? ~

 On Psalm 18:32-33

(NKJV) “It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and sets me on my high places.”

This verse/promise struck me recently. When I read it the first time, the Holy Spirit kept saying to me “It is God…”. It is God. I can be armed with His strength for the day ahead, or the task at hand, or anything I face. It is not my strength alone that will accomplish anything. He can and will make my way right, aligned with or by His wisdom.  I have wild deer in my area and I have seen them. They can move! The feet of a deer are stealthy. They jump and run without getting tangled or bogged down with anything on the ground.  So when I claim this verse as my truth, God is there to strengthen me into efficiency in life, not getting bogged down in anything that might hinder.

It is good to have a spiritual connection with our Creator.
